Catalyst Rwanda UK Brings B-Boy Dancing to the Kids in Rwanda
Catalyst Rwanda, a breakdancing crew from the U.K. takes hip hop dancing to Rwanda in the form of breakdancing lessons and inspiration. The project at Les Enfants De Dieu is changing the lives of children in Rwanda.
Famous British b-boy Pervez agreed to go to Rwanda to answer the kids’ wishes to learn how to breakdance. Project manager at the center was Rafiki Callixte and he was really happy that the crew came to teach the kids some hip hop moves. The story was also documented in a short film screened at the Africa Utopia festival called “Yes, Man!”.
Hundreds of happy faces and uplifted spirits in Rwanda shows that hip hop dance can bring joy to kids around the world. Several kids from the youngest to the oldest got the hang of some cool moves and joined in with their own performances.
They are excited as kids dance hip hop smiling, dancing,and singing. It is more than what you see, it is what you feel and what you become. The t-shirts said Live 2 Break and all the kids got one to wear.
