Krumping Turns 10 Years Old

The original street style dance known as “krumping” began in South Los Angeles in 2002.  A mix of hip hop, African dance and moves made up by Thomas “Tommy the Clown” Johnson in Compton in the “clowning style” put together form krumping.  While Dave Chapelle was still on T.V. and making movies, the 2005 documentary, Rize portrayed krump as an international dance form.

“Krumpin” is an exaggerated and very energetic dance style.

Since then, krumping has appeared on the dance circuits, in competitions, in breakdance routines and on the World of Dance Tour as well as ABDC.
