So You Think You Can Dance – SYTYCD 2012

SYTYCD – So You Think You Can Dance is holding auditions and looking for a new champion for the 2012 season.  SYTYCD Canada has been cancelled, so the ratings bar has been raised a notch in the States for the show to perform well.

Recent contestants were:

Audrey Case, 18 from Edmond, Okla.:  Nigel Lythgoe gave Audrey a bit of a hard time for telling SYTYCD producers that she could fart with her neck and lick her elbow (that should improve ratings!). She then began to dance confidently and smoothly and received a standing ovation from other dancers in the audience as well as the judges.  “You are magical, young lady, magical. You’re like a little Tinker Bell,” said  Lythgoe.

Boris Penton, 21 from Atlanta, Ga.:  He danced hip hop to classical piano music with amazing popping and mini-moves. Another standing ovation guaranteed another ticket to the Las Vegas show.

Joshua Alexander, 18 from Columbia, Ga.:  Fast and flexible, Joshua amazed the judges and is going to Vegas.

Tim Conkel, 21 from Atlanta, Ga.: This guy is actually a martial arts/ karate champion and his dance style is his hip-hop/breaking/karate with quick moves and power.

Jackson Alvarez, 24 from Maiden, N.C.: Jackson showed off his unique hip hop moves and is also on his way to Vegas.

Janelle Issis, 23 from  Birmingham, Ala.: Janelle is a belly dancer so that helps her do isolations and called her a star. Janelle proved her mettle in choreography and moved on to Vegas.

Danielle Dominguez, 21 from Tampa, Fla.: Danielle impressed the judges, who said they’d like to see her dance with SYTYCD alumnus Mark Kanemura.

Andre Rucker, 21 from Atlanta, Ga.:This Dragon House member showed off masterful popping, tutting and gliding. He is very flexible and is going to Vegas.

Cyrus “Glitch” Spencer, 21, Atlanta, Ga.:  Also a Dragon House crew mate, Glitch added body shakes and mechanized dancing.

Asher Walker, 19, Glad Hill, Va.: Asher did hip hop and told the judges that he wants to be a backup dancer for Justin Bieber (Carlena already got to do that!). Asher showed off great musicality and certain way with a pause and a facial expression.

George Lawrence II from Atlanta, Ga.: George Lawrence got quite a comment from the judge: “There are just a few people in this world that are born to dance. You are one of them and I’m so happy to be here to be part of your journey,” said Allen.

Brittany Ortner, 21 from Oviedo, Fla. and  Damon Bellmon, 20, Atlanta, Ga. are also going to Vegas in the 2012 SYTYCD show.
