Teen Hip Hop Dance

Hip hop dance classes are becoming more and more popular among teens.

Hip hop dance began with b-boying and breakdancing which involves dance moves performed close to the ground (downrock moves).  Hip hop dance allows for self expression while also borrowing elements from other dance styles like jazz, contemporary, modern and even tap.  B-boy (or breaker boyz) and b-girl is the breakdance style that hit the streets in the eighties and nineties.

Having good rhythm is essential to making hip hop moves look good.   There are alot of opinions about what is good hip hop dance, but the only way to find out is to try it out.

Letting some experienced hip hop dancers teach you a few moves is a great way to explore the different possibilities in hip hop dance. Unlike ballet and other types of more formal dance, hip hop is loose and it is all about expression.  Knowing some basic moves will help get you the confidence to make up your own original hip hop dance.
