Jesse Catibog is regarded as one of the more inspiring bboys across the nation. He uses his “don’t care what anyone thinks, I’m gonna dance the way Iwanna dance” philosophy every time he hits the dance floor. Jesse considers his style between a mix of Thelonious Monk’s eccentricity and Fred Astaire’s smooth steps. Jesse always likes to push boundaries, but still keepwithin the context of his dance: The Art Of Bboying.
Jesse has been dancing & competing all over the world including the following dance battles: Everywhere from Korea (R16 World Competition, placing 3rd), London (UK Bboy Championships) Germany (Battle Of The Year), Poland, etc. Jesse was an important factor to the success of his former Bboy Crew SUPERNATURALZ, which won competitions all across the USA & Canada. Jesse brings his unique style and talent to the stage as well as the dance studio to share with others.
Jesse is a member of the collective elite dancers that is Gadfly: a dance company focused on fusing different dance styles, bringing together styles from Ballet to Breakdance. Jesse is always expanding his thirst for new movement and freedom of movement. He is also dancer in one of the most Influential Bboy crews across Canada: The Albino Zebrahs. Jesse is high in demand with dance crews as he surrounds and immerses himself with a bboy crew that’s always furthering new movement & pushing boundaries within its bboy tradition.
After a successful debut on stage in the summer’s Fringe Festival (“Unbearable Prospect” – Gadfly Dance Company) in 2008, Jesse was chosen as one of The Top 20 dancers of So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Staying on the show as far as placing TOP 14, Jesse was the 1st Bboy on the show’s 1st season and he went through the challenges of learning and performing four different styles of dances from jazz, hip hop, rock & The Hustle.
Recently, Jesse finished filming a new dance movie called “Beat The World” with A-list dancers & choreographers ShoTyme, Lil C & Teresa Espinosa, among others. Jesse plays the role of “Kato”, one of the members of the main crew “Fusion”. Jesse made his feature film debut in 2010. Jesse also showcased his choreographic talent in the first Albino Zebrah production.
